A couple of months ago, I was working on the above illustration for the cover of The Nashville Scene, a client I’ve had the fortune to work with on some really fun projects (which you can see here and here).
The bad news was that the cover story was temporarily killed due to some other breaking news that was dominating the headlines. Such is the editorial industry.
The good news is that the story and it’s accompanying cover illustration were picked up by the Scene’s sister publication, The Nashville City Paper. I was especially excited due to a strange desire to draw an ostrich, a personal love for the concept, and the reward that comes from illustrating another cover.
Special thanks to Art Directors Elizabeth Jones (Nashville Scene) and Bret Pelizzari (Nashville City Paper) for keeping this one alive.
