It’s always a fun challenge to create a series of Illustrations for a client, rather than just a single piece. My latest series was for Westchester Magazine, for a group of articles comparing and contrasting life in New York City vs. the suburbs of nearby Westchester County.
One of the biggest challenges is to find a way to unite the group of images in some way, and in this case I decided to push the limits of side-by-side comparison by using the exact same character and pose in each scene while changing the environment to tell the story. While I deviated from this theme slightly where necessary, this approach made for a difficult, time-intensive process and hopefully a collection of images that would be fun for the readers.
Below is the complete collection, with Westchester on the left, and NYC on the right.
